Spherical tantalum powder is
tantalum powder which the shape is spherical under scanning electron microscope (SEM). Compared with irregular tantalum powder, the production cost of spherical tantalum powder is higher, and the quality of interstation spherical tantalum powder obtained through multiple screens is better. Therefore, it is often used in some occasions and fields that require high powder fluidity.
Spherical tantalum powder is mainly produced by plasma rotating electrode method and induction plasma spheroidization process. The plasma rotating electrode method (PREP) is only suitable for the preparation of coarse spherical tantalum powders with particle sizes of 45-105 um and 45-150 um. It is not suitable for the preparation of spherical tantalum powders with particle sizes less than 45 um. The induction plasma spheroidization process can prepare spherical tantalum powders with particle sizes of 15-45 um, 15-53 um, 45-105 um, and 45-150 um.
