Tantalum carbide powder refers to carbide ceramic powder with dark gray appearance. The chemical formula is TaC. The density is 14.3g/cm3. Tantalum carbide is insoluble in water, insoluble in inorganic acid, soluble in mixed acid of hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid and decomposable. Tantalum carbide has strong oxidation resistance and is easily melted and decomposed by potassium pyrosulfate.

According to the different particle size, tantalum carbide powder can be divided into coarse tantalum carbide powder, fine tantalum carbide powder, extremely fine tantalum carbide powder, ultra-fine tantalum carbide powder and tantalum carbide nanopowder.
