Europium is a silvery white metal. The element symbol is Eu. The melting point is 822 °C, the boiling point is 1597 °C, and the density is 5.26 g/cm3. Europium is the softest and most volatile element in rare earth elements. At room temperature, europium loses its metallic luster immediately in the air and is oxidized into powder quickly. Europium reacts violently with cold water to form hydrogen.
