Manganese is a kind of gray, hard, brittle and glossy transition metal. The element symbol is Mn. The atomic number is 25. The density is 7.44g/cm3. The melting point is 1244 ℃. Manganese exists as four kinds of allotropes in solid state. They are: α - Mn, β - Mn, γ - Mn, δ - Mn. The ionization energy of manganese is 7.435ev. Pure manganese is a slightly softer metal than iron. Manganese with a small amount of impurities is hard and brittle. It will be oxidized in wet places.
