Tantalum wire is a filamentous tantalum material made from high-purity
tantalum powder through plastic processing methods such as rolling and drawing. According to the different cross-sectional shapes, tantalum wires can be divided into
tantalum round wires and
tantalum flat wires. According to different purity levels, tantalum wire can be divided into two grades: RO5200 / RO5400.
Tantalum Wire Production Process
Powder Metallurgy Method
Raw material (tantalum powder) → mixing → forming → vertical melting → rotary forging → intermediate annealing → drawing → finished product annealing → quality inspection → packaging and warehousing.
Melting Method
Raw material (tantalum powder) → mixing → forming → pre sintering → electron beam melting → precision forging → intermediate annealing → rotary forging → intermediate annealing → drawing → finished product annealing → quality inspection → packaging and warehousing.
By chemical purity, tantalum wire can be divided into metallurgical tantalum wire (Ta ≤ 99%), high-purity tantalum wire (Ta ≥ 99%), and ultra-high purity tantalum wire (Ta ≥ 99.9%).
By performance, tantalum wire can be divided into chemical corrosion-resistant tantalum wire, high-temperature and high-strength tantalum wire, antioxidant tantalum wire, and capacitor tantalum wire.
By application: tantalum wire can be divided into tantalum wire for solid tantalum electrolytic capacitor, tantalum wire for liquid tantalum electrolytic capacitor lead and tantalum wire for capacitor with reliability index.
By the state, tantalum wires for capacitors can be divided into soft state (M), semi hard state (Y2), and hard state (Y) tantalum wires.
Tantalum Wire Application
Tantalum wire can be used in different occasions and fields depending on its purity and shape. The details are as follows:
1. Capacitor grade tantalum wire is mainly used to make anode lead of tantalum electrolytic capacitor;
2. Small diameter tantalum wire can be made into tantalum yarn or tantalum mesh;
3. Tantalum wire can be used to make heating components for vacuum high-temperature furnaces;
4. High oxygen resistant and brittle tantalum wire can be used to make tantalum foil capacitors. It can work in potassium dichromate and sulfuric acid energized solutions at 772 high temperatures (100 ℃) and ultra-high flash voltage (350V);
5. Tantalum wire can be used as a vacuum electron cathode emission source, ion sputtering, and spraying material;
6. High purity tantalum wire can be cut into tantalum pellets for melting or evaporation coating.

Tantalum round wire refers to a type of high-purity tantalum wire with a circular cross-sectional shape. Tantalum round wire is the most common type of tantalum wire, commonly referred to as tantalum wire.
