    Rhenium is a kind of silvery white heavy metal, which belongs to the VI transition metal in the periodic table of elements. The sign of rhenium is Re, and the atomic order is 75.

    Rhenium foil is made from rhenium rod or rhenium plate blank by a series of rough rolling, intermediate rolling, and finishing rolling into rhenium foil of different thicknesses, and then annealing the finished product. Rhenium foil is a precision basic material with high temperature resistance and large resistance. It is mainly used for structural and resistive components of high-tech equipment; Electrode materials under high temperature and harsh conditions, manufacturing of aerospace equipment components, etc.

    Rhenium foil is an extremely specialized and expensive strategic material, primarily used in cutting-edge technological fields that demand the utmost levels of performance and reliability. Its main applications include the following:
    Aerospace and Defense
    Core additive for high-temperature alloys: This is the largest and most critical use of rhenium. Small additions (typically 3–6%) of rhenium foil or rhenium powder to nickel-based single-crystal superalloys can significantly enhance high-temperature strength, creep resistance, and fatigue resistance. Rhenium is an irreplaceable material for manufacturing high-pressure turbine blades in advanced aircraft engines and gas turbines.
    Ultra-high-temperature components: Pure rhenium or rhenium-based alloys are used to manufacture rocket engine nozzles, high-temperature thermal protection components for spacecraft, and leading edges of hypersonic vehicles.
    High-End Industry and Scientific Research
    High-temperature heating elements and thermocouples: Rhenium is used in specialized vacuum furnaces and semiconductor equipment requiring stable heat sources above 2000 °C. Tungsten–rhenium thermocouples are key sensors for measuring extremely high temperatures, reaching up to 3100 °C.
    Thin-film deposition targets: High-purity rhenium foil or plates can serve as sputtering targets for physical vapor deposition (PVD), enabling the formation of rhenium or rhenium-alloy coatings with excellent high-temperature and wear resistance on precision components.
    Electronics and electrical contact materials: Leveraging its high melting point, excellent stability, and resistance to arc erosion, rhenium is used in high-performance X-ray tube targets, electrodes for high-power vacuum electronic devices, and critical electrical contact points.
    Catalysis
    Rhenium is an important catalyst component in the petrochemical industry, often combined with platinum for petroleum reforming and the production of unleaded gasoline. Although rhenium compounds are more commonly used in this field, high-purity rhenium materials serve as the fundamental source for catalyst preparation.
