Chromium is a kind of glossy silver white metal, whose element symbol is Cr, belonging to the fourth period of VIB group. The atomic number of chromium is 24 and the density is 7.20g/cm3. Chromium is soluble in strong alkali solution, and can be slowly dissolved in dilute hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, but it is not soluble in water and concentrated nitric acid. Chromium has high ductility and corrosion resistance. At high temperature, chromium can combine directly with halogen, sulfur, nitrogen and carbon.
