Vanadium is a kind of silver gray metal, its element symbol is V, which belongs to VB group in the periodic table of elements. Vanadium has an atomic number of 23 and an atomic weight of 50.9414. Vanadium is a body centered cubic crystal with common valence of + 5, + 4, + 3 and + 2. Vanadium has a high melting point and is often called refractory metal together with niobium, tantalum, tungsten and molybdenum. Vanadium has the advantages of ductility, hardness and non magnetism. Vanadium is better than most stainless steel in gas, salt and water corrosion resistance. Vanadium is not oxidized in air and soluble in hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid and aqua regia.
