Molybdenum cutting wire, also known as wire cutting molybdenum wire, is a high-purity molybdenum wire mainly made from refractory metal molybdenum. It is a type of fine molybdenum wire made by forging and drawing molybdenum bars. It is a cutting line on a wire cutting machine tool, with a diameter generally between 0.12 and 0.20 mm.
Molybdenum cutting wire is a kind of black product as thin as hair, which has the basic characteristics of metal molybdenum, mainly manifested in high melting point, high density, high hardness, low resistivity, low thermal expansion coefficient, corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance and heat resistance.
Molybdenum cutting wire can be manufactured using a solid-liquid doping method, with the main steps of preparing raw materials such as silica, liquid solid solution metal compounds, and liquid rare earth oxides; Then, liquid solid solution metal compounds are added to solid molybdenum dioxide, followed by liquid rare earth oxides, which are then reduced with hydrogen gas to obtain mixed molybdenum powder; Finally, the mixed molybdenum powder is subjected to isostatic pressing, sintering, rolling, rotary hammer tapping, hot drawing, annealing, and cold drawing to obtain the molybdenum cutting wire.
Molybdenum cutting wire is widely used as an electrode material in fast and medium wire EDM machining, capable of cutting various high hardness and brittleness materials.
