Classification and Application of Copper Alloy

The copper with the highest copper content is also called red copper because of its color. The main component is copper plus silver, with the content of 99.5-99.95%. The main impurity elements are: phosphorus, bismuth, antimony, arsenic, iron, nickel, lead, tin, sulfur, zinc, oxygen, etc. it is used for making conductive equipment, high-grade copper alloy and copper base alloy. Copper can be divided into pure copper and copper alloy.

The commonly used copper alloys can be divided into brass, white copper and bronze. Its specific application is as follows:

1. Brass - brass is an alloy composed of copper and zinc. Brass composed of copper and zinc is called ordinary brass. If it is composed of more than two elements of a variety of alloys called special brass. According to different added elements, special brass is also called tin brass, silicon brass, manganese brass, lead brass and aluminum brass. Brass has strong wear resistance. Brass is often used to make valves, water pipes, connecting pipes of air conditioners and radiators.

2. Cupronickel -- Cupronickel is a copper base alloy with nickel as the main additive element. It is silvery white with metallic luster, so it is called Cupronickel.

3. Bronze - bronze is an alloy produced by the addition of pure copper (red copper) to metals other than zinc and nickel. It has the characteristics of low melting point, high hardness, strong plasticity and wear resistance. It is suitable for casting various appliances, mechanical parts, bearings, gears, etc. According to the different elements, bronze can be divided into tin bronze, aluminum bronze, beryllium bronze, silicon bronze and so on.
